VTB Kazakhstan among most profitable Kazakh banks

In 2018 all three business lines (retail, small and medium) of VTB Bank in Kazakhstan finished the year with income, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

As at the end of the year bank’s assets increased by six percent, compared to 2017 and amounted to 162 billion tenge.

“The charter capital of the bank amounted to 29.9 billion tenge, whereas the annual net profit increased by 118 percent and amounted to 4.1 billion tenge,” reads the message.

“Following the end of 2018 the liabilities of the bank equaled 141.2 billion tenge. The loan portfolio of the bank increased up to 91.3 billion tenge, 42 percent of which is physical person loans and 45 percent of which is medium corporate business loans and 13 percent is large investment business loans,” the statement said.

“The actual income of the bank exceeded the income plan by three times. The CIR (Cost/Income Ratio) business success indicator amounted to 17.9 percent,” the source said.

“During the reporting period the loan portfolio of the bank increased by 26 percent. The Bank is the fifth by profitability in the list of second tier banks of Kazakhstan and 18th by the volume of income,” the report said.
