By Ilkin Seyfaddini - Trend:

The portfolio of joint projects of Uzbekistan with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is about $1.2 billion and covers all priority areas, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

The issue was discussed during a video conference of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the President of EBRD Suma Chakrabarti.

"One third of all allocated funds are directed to support the private sector and entrepreneurship, including in order to minimize the negative effects of the coronavirus pandemic in the country," said the message.

New project proposals worth about $1 billion are under development, the message said.

The bank's experts have also actively participated in the development of legislative acts and strategic initiatives in the sphere of public-private partnership, capital market development, reforming the banking sector and other spheres of Uzbekistan's economy.

Chakrabarti stressed the bank's firm commitment to fully support the ongoing course of reforms in Uzbekistan and regional policy in Central Asia, in particular, by expanding the portfolio and volumes of financial and technical assistance.
