Annual remittance inflows from Azerbaijan to Georgia up

Annual remittance inflows from Azerbaijan to Georgia grew by 64 percent on 25-31 December 2020 and by 102 percent on 18-24 December, Trend reports via the TBC Capital's weekly economic review.

It is noteworthy that the growth of remittances from Azerbaijan to Georgia was at a two-digit indicator on 14-20 December 2020 and for the last three weeks of October only. For the entire year, they were at a three-digit indicator.

Georgia has witnessed an 11.4 percent upward trend in overall remittance inflows on 25-31 December.

In addition to Azerbaijan, remittance inflows have grown from North America and Ukraine, while a downward trend has been maintained from Russia.

Remittances from Armenia to Georgia went down by 45 percent on 25-31 December 2020, while remittance inflows from this country in the week of 18-24 showed a 3 percent increase.

In November of 2020, transferred amounts to Georgia have increased by 12.5 percent if compared to those of the previous year and totaled $169.9 million.

As for the EU countries, in November, remittances surged by 23.4 percent: from Italy, they grew by 27.7 percent, by 15.4 percent from Greece and 65 percent from Germany.
