EBRD releases 2020 conclusive data on investments in Azerbaijani projects

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) allocated loans totaling 17 million euros to implement projects in Azerbaijan in 2020, Trend reports citing the EBRD.

The loan portfolio was envisaged for the implementation of six programs against five projects in 2019, for which the EBRD allocated 17 million euros.

At the moment, the volume of the EBRD loan portfolio allocated to Azerbaijan is about 2 billion euros. The majority (77 percent or 920 million euro) of the portfolio is directed to investments in sustainable infrastructure, 21 percent or 246 million euro is directed to investments in industry, trade, and agriculture, and the remaining 2 percent or 29 million euro is allocated to investments in financial institutions.

In general, over the past four years, the EBRD has allocated 857 million euros for lending to 34 projects in the public and private sectors of Azerbaijan.

The EBRD has been cooperating with Azerbaijan since 1992 and is the leading investor in the country. Investments affect various sectors of the country: energy, infrastructure, banking, industry, and commerce.
