Central Bank of Azerbaijan reports increase in lending to economy

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 27

The volume of credit investments in the Azerbaijani economy amounted to over 14.6 billion manat ($8.58 billion) from January through April 2021, showing an increase of 3.2 percent or 454.8 million manat ($265.5 million) compared to early 2021. Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

Reportedly, the volume of loan investments in the reporting period decreased by 0.9 percent or 130.4 million manat ($76.7 million) compared to the same period of 2020.

At the same time, the deposits of the population as of May 1, 2021, amounted to 8.35 billion manat ($4.91 billion), which increased annually by 7.7 percent or 594.9 million manat ($349.9 million).

Earlier, Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan Elman Rustamov noted that 86.5 percent of all deposits of the population are insured.
