BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 31. Turkmenistan and the World Bank (WB) discussed the preparation of a document on further joint actions to give impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation, Trend reports.
According to the official source of Turkmenistan, these issues were discussed between the Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Serdar Jorayev, and the new WB Country Manager for Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan Andrey Mikhnev, who arrived in Ashgabat at the head of the WB delegation.
The head of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan noted the positive dynamics of cooperation with the World Bank, citing as an example the successful cooperation within the framework of the COVID-19 response project. He stressed the potential for joint work in the field of fruit and horticulture development, as well as improving the country's legislation in light of the ongoing work on joining the World Trade Organization.
The new permanent representative of the WB in Turkmenistan noted the readiness to intensify cooperation in the designated areas and also added that the WB has the capacity to provide technical advice for the analysis and improvement of national legislation, as well as financing projects in the agricultural sector, Mikhnev said.
Furthermore, the parties discussed Turkmenistan's participation in regional projects of the World Bank, as well as the provision of technical advice for specialists in various industries. The interest of the World Bank in supporting initiatives aimed at protecting the environment was noted.
