IMF updates forecast on Azerbaijan's current account balance surplus by 2028

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 18. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised its forecast for Azerbaijan's current account balance surplus by 2028, Trend reports.

The IMF forecasted this figure to make up seven percent of GDP, which is downgrade from the previous outlook of April 2023 (eight percent of the GDP).

The IMF also forecasted that Azerbaijan's current account surplus to be $12.6 billion in 2023, or 16.3 percent of GDP, up from 19.7 percent in the previous forecast, and $12.7 billion, or 15.7 percent of GDP next year, while the April outlook estimated this figure at 17.4 percent.

The base scenario of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan envisions the account surplus to be 15 percent of GDP at the end of 2023.
