BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 11. Iran's foreign debts decreased by 15.6 percent at the end of the 6th month of the current Iranian year (September 22, 2023), compared to the same period the previous year (September 22, 2022), Trend reports.
According to the data from Central Bank of Iran, the country's foreign debts amounted to approximately $5.83 billion at the end of the sixth month of this year.
Meanwhile, the figure stood at $6.9 billion at the end of the 6th month of the last Iranian year (September 22, 2022).
Iran's short-term debts amounted to about $2.22 billion, while its long-term debts were over $3.6 billion at the end of the sixth month.
In euros, Iran's foreign debt amounted to approximately 5.38 billion euros at the end of the 6th month. Of that, 2.05 billion euros were short-term debts, while 3.33 billion euros were long-term debts.
The Iranian government considers the reduction of foreign debt to be effective for the country's economy. Iran is considered the country with the least foreign debt among the Middle East and Central Asia countries.
