Database management system of Akgun Yazılım company has been introduced in the Medical Center of the Ministry of Health, the company, Deputy Health Minister, Elsever Agayev, said during the conference on 'Role of IT in health' on September 29.
He said that database management system of the company connects nine corps of the center now. Fiber-optic communication lines are used to exchange data.
At present, there is an opportunity to transmit and receive video content (results of computer tomography) in real time using broadband communication lines.
E-laboratory operates in the center. The work of urgent first aid is controlled by global positioning system (GPS).
Agayev said that the module is expected to be introduced by late 2009. It allows to control the quality of medicines.
Work on introduction of IT in health sector are indicated in the third paragraph of the program "E-Azerbaijan".
One of significant projects implemented recently was establishment of the national monitoring center - E-registers, Agayev said. At present, seven of nine registers operate in Azerbaijan. Information about facts of birth, death and disease is regularly put into the database of registers.
The project to introduce E-health cards has been successfully implemented since 2007 in Azerbaijan. At present, more than 160,000 cards were given within the project.
About 300 hospitals have been established over the last five years in Azerbaijan. All hospitals will be equipped with modern information systems in future.
