Main events of Azerbaijani ICT sector for first week of 2021

Safezone GPS's privacy protection and secure data transmission is a priority for 2021 in rendering its services, Safezone founder Saddam Alasgarov told Trend.

"Safezone cooperates with the world's biggest GPS tracking platform Gurtam to ensure security and privacy," Alasgarov said. "Gurtam cooperates with 130 countries. Our company ranks 51st in the latest ranking of the company, which includes 2.6 million objects of tracking, 1,900 partners."

"Our main goal in terms of sale is to diversify the sector," Safezone founder added. "If we do a statistical analysis of our client base at the moment, we will see that the sectors that make up the numerical advantage are the construction and public sectors."

"Given the overall distribution of the share, 41 percent of the client base falls on the construction industry and the state, 29 percent - on tourism and car rental, 20 percent - individuals who are an integral part of the Azerbaijani GPS market," Alasgarov said.

"The sales volumes in 2020 compared to 2019 greatly decreased," Safezone founder said.

"If we look at the sales data for 2020, it is clear that the buying dynamics in the market decreased by 36 percent compared to 2019," Safezone founder said. "The main sectors in which sales volumes have greatly decreased are the sector of tourism and car rental. GPS devices were installed at 1,369 sites. In accordance with the Safezone team’s forecasts, sales volumes will reach about 2,000-2,200 GPS devices in 2021."

In an interview with Trend Executive Director of the Azerbaijani Sumaks Technologies company Javid Mammadov spoke about the projects and plans for 2021 and the company's production systems, as well as the use of IoT solutions, where they widely introduced the most advanced technologies.

Mammadov noted three projects that have achieved great success to date and are used in both the private and public sectors of Azerbaijan.

AutoMax - GPS systems have been on sale since 2017 and their main consumers are private and some state-owned enterprises of Azerbaijan, the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project has been used for more than a year at the production associations of public services in the country.

While speaking about the third project, Mammadov said that to date, within the Scroller Management project, about 50 scroller devices have been installed in Baku and about 200 have been manufactured. They will be installed in the necessary places in Baku in case of necessity.

Sumaks team continues to track global trends and is trying to introduce the latest technologies and IoT devices into its products.

In an interview with Trend, director of the INNOLAND Center Mammad Karimov spoke about the project "Supporting the Development of Technological Startups in Azerbaijan".

"It envisages the creation of effective and functional institutional mechanisms to support technology startups and the main goal of which is the development of innovations, start-up projects and technical solutions in the districts of Azerbaijan," Karimov said.

"While using the resources of the State Agency for Public Services and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan (ASAN Service) located in Ganja and Sheki cities, the work will be carried out to develop an innovative program for the development of the IT sector in the country's districts," Karimov said.

"Within this project, it is planned to create a number of pilot programs to support the innovation sector in Ganja and Sheki cities, create a sustainable system and develop entrepreneurship in the districts of Azerbaijan," director of the INNOLAND Center said.

"INNOLAND's local and foreign partners will develop programs and plans to implement these activities through grants funded by Korea’s E-Asia Partnership and Knowledge Foundation in the amount of $550,000," director of the INNOLAND Center said.

Director of the INNOLAND Center said that this project will cover the districts of Azerbaijan and startups will be developed in the field of agriculture, technologies in finance, tourism and other related spheres.

"Moreover, the development of start-up projects and the formation of a new ecosystem will lead to the creation of new jobs in the districts of Azerbaijan, which will increase employment in the region, form a base of potential taxpayers, and also allow developing the region on the basis of available technologies," director of the INNOLAND Center said.

"As part of the upcoming work, the experience of Asian countries will be applied," director of the INNOLAND Center said. "Each developing country will contribute, as well as apply the experience of other countries in its projects, where Azerbaijan, as a developing country, is an interesting platform for these companies and investors."

"As practice shows, foreign investors and companies, investing their funds in projects of other countries, are greatly interested in the development of new technologies, innovative capabilities of the country, as well as in professional personnel," director of the INNOLAND Center added.
