BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 23. As many as 119,094 foreigners visited Azerbaijan in January 2023, up by 60.81 percent compared to the same month of 2022 (74,057), Trend reports citing the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Most of the foreigners who visited Azerbaijan in January 2023 were citizens of Russia (40,200 people), Türkiye (25,100 people), Iran (11,100 people), Georgia (6,600 people), and India (4,100 people).

This indicator is followed by the United Arab Emirates (3,800 people), Pakistan (3,300 people), Kuwait (2,400 people), Saudi Arabia (2,100 people), and Kazakhstan (1,800 people).

In the reporting month, 5,309 foreigners from Central Asia, 7,893 from South Asia, 1,062 from the US, 553 from Northeast Asia, 714 from Southeast Asia, and 493 African citizens, visited Azerbaijan.

From January through December 2022, 1.6 million tourists visited Azerbaijan, which was more than twice the 2021's indicator (790,062).
