Iran is expanding railway network in 3 provinces

Iran is expanding railway tracks in Isfahan, Fars and Yazd provinces a cohesive development plan, said Head of Iran's Plan and Budget Organization.

"The railway Isfahan-Shiraz [center of the Fars Province] was put into operation and there is a possibility of launching rail tracks from Isfahan to Yazd as well as connecting Shiraz to Yazd; the work is planned to be carried out in the current Iranian year [started March 20, 2020]," said Mohammad Bagher Nobakht, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

"The Ministry of Road and Urban Development has developed plans implementation of which will start this Iranian year, and the Plan and Budget Organization supports these plans," he added.

Bagher Nobakht visited the construction site of the new highway named after Ghasem Soleimani in eastern Isfahan that will connect north transport corridor to south of Iran, said the report.

"The government will pay $23 million for this project; so far, $4.7 million has been invested and $19 million will be allocated in coming days," he said.
