Russian company to develop transport master plan for Uzbekistan’s Samarkand region

SIMETRA, Russian transport planning, and traffic modeling company will develop a transport master plan that will be implemented for the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan in the next six months, Trend reports referring to the press service of the company.

It is reported that SIMETRA Development Director Christian Boettger made a working trip to Uzbekistan’s Samarkand region, where he took part in several high-level official meetings to determine the goals of transport development.

Christian Boettger met with representatives of the project customers - Director of the Center for the Study of Transport and Logistics Development Problems of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan Murod Bakhtiyorovich Abidov and the governor of Samarkand Boburmirzo Salomovich Oblakulov. Director of the Transport Department of Samarkand Region Inatilla Khushievich Khamraev also took part in the meetings.

Also, an introductory meeting was held with the acting Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, Ilkhom Rustamovich Makhkamov, on the vision of the Ministry of Transport and transport development of cities in Uzbekistan.

It is reported that now the SIMETRA team is starting to implement the project and work on it will last until the end of August.

“At the first stage, our specialists will prepare and conduct field surveys - a collection of initial data,” Boettger noted.

Boettger also said that a large seminar dedicated to the project will be held in early February, in the Samarkand region with the participation of the city governor, stakeholders, and media representatives.

“The entire progress of the project will be covered on a special information website that will work in two languages - Uzbek and Russian,” he stressed.

According to the information, SIMETRA specialists participated in the creation of the largest transport models, including a complex model of Moscow and the Moscow agglomeration, St. Petersburg, Almaty, Kyiv, Tver region, Perm region, Moscow region, Rostov region, and a number of other cities and regions of the European part of Russia.
