BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 5. In total, nearly 8.5 million tons of cargo were transported through the roads of the West Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran), during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2022), the head of the roads and transport department of the West Azerbaijan Province Morteza Akbari said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
According to Akbari, cement was the main transported item through the province’s roads for 8 months. So, 2.65 million tons of cement were transported within the mentioned period.
In general, Iran produced 62.7 million tons of cement over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), which is a decreased of 8.2 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).
Also, Iran exported a total of 4.1 million tons of cement in the last Iranian year.
