A criminal case has been opened in Tuesday's suicide bombing in the west of Kazakhstan, a spokesman from the Prosecutor's Office said, Xinhua reported.

"The man who blew himself up in Aktobe today has been identified as Rakhimzhan Makhatov," Kazakh Prosecutor General's Office spokesman Zhandos Umiraliyev said at a press briefing in Astana.

The 25-year-old is a member of the local criminal group, and a suspect of several criminal cases, according to Umiraliyev. Makhatov was trying to use suicide bombing to settle up once for all, excluding the possibility of a terrorist attack.

Makhatov detonated a bomb device on his body in front of the National Security Committee headquarters about 09:30 local time in the center of Aktobe.

Two other people injured in the explosion are getting medical treatment in hospital. "A criminal case has been opened," Umiraliyev said.
