The plant for manufacturing of Kazakhstan’s COVID-19 vaccine may be commissioned in August or September of this year, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Healthcare Alexander Tsoi said, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.
The plant is being constructed in country’s Zhambyl region and initially it was to be commissioned in December 2020.
He noted that according to the regional akimat (administrative center), all the routine pre-commissioning procedures are undergoing at the plant. The plant is expected to be launched by the fall and will gradually expand its production capacity.
The plant for manufacturing of Kazakh QazVac COVID-19 vaccine will be producing 600 million doses of vaccine a year.
The first two cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Kazakhstan among those who arrived in Almaty city from Germany on March 13, 2020.
