Completion of harvest campaign in Kazakhstan is expected in early October 2021, Trend reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to the ministry, as to date, 14.1 million hectares of grain and leguminous crops were harvested, the average yield is 9.2 centners per hectare (c/ha), which is 22.8 percent less compared to the period as of Sept.17, 2020 (11.9 c/ha).
Some 13 million tons of grain, including 10.4 million tons of wheat were threshed, 197,800 tons of oilseeds, 2,142.7 tons of potatoes, 3,730.1 tons of vegetable crops, and 2,581.3 tons of melons were collected.
In the main grain-sowing regions (Akmola, Kostanay, and North Kazakhstan regions), 10.6 million hectares were harvested, which is 91.4 percent of their total harvesting area. With an average yield of 8.4 c/ha, 8.9 million tons were harvested.
“The gross harvest of grain is expected to be 15.3 million tons, wheat - 10.5 million tons. At the same time, according to the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of Kazakhstan, the volume of cereals and legumes as of August 1, 2021, in the country amounted to 3.5 million tons, including 2.8 million tons of wheat,” the ministry said. “Given the carry-over of previous years, about 18.8 million tons of grain, including 13.3 million tons of wheat, will be subject to distribution.”
The 2021 harvest campaign is underway, as usual, added the ministry.
