BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23. The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed about the current socio-economic situation and prospects for the development of the Almaty region during the meeting with the region’s governor Marat Sultangaziyev, Trend reports via the presidential press service.

According to Sultangaziyev, positive changes in the region's economy have been noted since the beginning of the year. The agricultural production volume increased by 102.8 percent, output in the processing industry - by 105.2 percent, in trade – by 103 percent, and in construction - by 114.3 percent.

Sultangaziyev said that the regional administration intends to maintain a positive dynamics of growth of indicators until the end of this year.

The region’s head informed the president about the ongoing work to amend the plan for the socio-economic development of the Almaty region and the city of Konayev, taking into account new opportunities after the administrative-territorial reform.

According to Sultangaziyev, special attention is paid to the development of sectors of the economy with high investment attractiveness, including the areas of construction, industry, agriculture, manufacturing, trade and tourism.

Speaking about the progress of work on the transfer of the Almaty region's administrative center to Konayev city, he said that comprehensive measures are being taken to create the necessary conditions for local executive bodies and employees of state organizations.
