BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 29. Kazakhstan's Aktobe region will start producing recycled wool-based nonwoven fabric using Italian technologies, Trend reports citing the country's Ministry of Agriculture.

The relevant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) involving the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Italy's Cormatex SRL, and National Company "Kazakh Invest" JSC was signed on September 26, 2022.

The Kazakh KazFeltec LLP company is to implement the project jointly with Italy's Cormatex, which will provide the enterprise with Italian technologies along with making investments. The project is for $10 million, out of which 70 percent accounts for borrowed funds.

Nearly 70 percent of wool is currently recycled in Kazakhstan. The new project will have a multiplier effect, which will enable Kazakhstan's livestock breeders to sell wool and livestock skins.
