BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 17. Kazakhstan produced 30,900 tons of fresh, chilled, and frozen fish from January through August 2022, Trend reports citing energyprom.kz.
The prices for fish have increased by 15 percent over the year. The fish cluster is being developed in the Kyzylorda region. The region has 10 fish factories, which produce 15,000 tons of fish. At the same time, special emphasis is placed on the reproduction of valuable commercial fish species.
Only 6,000 tons of fish, caviar and its substitutes prepared or preserved in another way were produced in Kazakhstan from January through August 2022, which is 29.7 percent less than a year earlier. More than a third of the output in this area fell on the Turkistan region: 2,400 tons, up by 43.9 percent. The top three leading regions were West Kazakhstan (1,800 tons, minus 8.5 percent per year) and East Kazakhstan (561 tons, down by 21.3 percent) regions.
Local companies ensured demand for processed and canned fish, crustaceans and mollusks by 53.1 percent for the eight months of 2022. A total of 28,700 tons of products were imported to Kazakhstan, which is 1.8 percent more than the previous year. The production for this period amounted to 32,500 tons, up by 1.9 percent.
Meanwhile, 12,400 tons or 20.4 percent of available resources were exported from the country, which is 9.3 percent more than a year earlier.
The sales on the domestic market amounted to 48,700 tons. During the year, the figure remained almost unchanged.
The price for fresh and chilled fish increased by 15 percent, frozen- by 15.1 percent, and peeled frozen shrimp - by 26.4 percent as of September 2022.
The strongest increase in prices for fresh and chilled fish were seen in Pavlodar (by 44.7 percent), Kostanai (by 24.7 percent) and Mangistau (by 24 percent) regions.
Prices for frozen fish increased most notably in Mangistau (up by 43.4 percent), Zhetysu (up by 35.2 percent) and Atyrau (up by 29.6 percent) regions.
Peeled frozen shrimp prices rose most of all in Mangistau (by 2.5 times), Aktobe (up by 49.4 percent) and Akmola (up by 36.4 percent) regions.
Among fish products, salted herring increased in price by 34.2 percent over the year, canned fish delicacy - by 29.6 percent, sprats in oil - by 24.9 percent, cold-smoked mackerel - by 23.8 percent, salted delicacy fish - by 22.2 percent, red caviar - by 21.2 percent.
