BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 26. Kazakhstan’s National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" will transfer 130 billion Kazakh tenge (nearly $283.2 million) to the public social fund "To the people of Kazakhstan”, Gibrat Auganov, Managing Director for Public Relations, Social and Labor Relations and Labor Protection, Trend reports, citing Kazakh media.

This is an equivalent of 7 percent of Samruk-Kazyna’s net profit.

The funds will be spent on carrying out various projects socially important and charity projects.

Auganov noted that 43 charity projects were realized by the National Welfare Fund in 2022.

“Around 500,000 citizens received assistance. As a result of the implementation of these projects, 624 people were employed in the country”, the National fund official added.

Samruk-Kazyna is a sovereign wealth fund and joint stock company in Kazakhstan which owns, either in whole or in part, a number of major companies in the country. This includes the national rail and postal service, the state oil and gas company KazMunayGas, the state uranium company Kazatomprom, Air Astana, and others. The state is the sole shareholder of the fund.
