BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 8. Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), the national railway operator of Kazakhstan, revealed that 10 million tons of wheat were shipped via the national railway network in 2022, Trend reports, citing the press service of KTZ.

Around 8 million tons were exported, which is an increase of 18 percent compared to 2021.

Kazakh wheat was mainly exported to other Central Asian countries. Export volume in this direction increased by 11 percent and reached 5.6 million tons.

Meanwhile, export volume to China surged by 134 percent, which is due to container shipping increase.

The growth is also being recorded in 2023. According to the results of January, Kazakhstan exported 138,000 tons of flour. This is equivalent to a 17-percent increase.

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy is the national railway company of Kazakhstan, founded by the government in 2002 as a joint stock company. KTZ’s task is to develop, operate, and maintain railway transportation in Kazakhstan. It is headquartered in Astana.
