BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. Kazakhstan will open a trade representation in Afghanistan, in a bid to strengthen trade relations between the nations, Trend reports, citing the press service of the Kazakh Prime Minister.

The trade representation’s main function will consist of organizing B2B meetings between business entities from Kazakhstan and Afghanistan. Additionally, it will also provide consulting services in legal, marketing, and policy fields.

The agreement was announced in the framework of the Kazakh-Afghan business forum held in Kabul, Afghanistan, which was attended by 18 businesses from Kazakhstan. Kazakh businesses signed export contracts for flour sales worth $4 million.

Serik Zhumangarin, Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, said during his speech that Kazakhstan can provide goods worth around $174 million to Afghanistan, including chemical, petrochemical, light, and mining industry products.

Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan amounted to $987.9 million in 2022, which is a two-fold increase compared to 2021. Kazakh exports doubled to $978.9 million, while imports from Afghanistan increased by 82.6 percent to $9.1 million.
