BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 27. Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) plays a significant role in the development of the capital market in Kazakhstan, a source at the KASE told Trend.
The Exchange is the pivot of the infrastructure of Kazakhstan's stock exchange market, a unique and the only trading platform in the country that services 4 areas: the stock, currency, money markets, and the derivatives market. Furthermore, KASE provides a wide range of different financial instruments and conditions for trading in local and foreign securities. On KASE, it is possible to raise financing through the issuance and placement of shares and bonds and use futures to hedge risks.
To further enhance trading capabilities, KASE has introduced cutting-edge systems and platforms.
"KASE has started calculation and publication of new money market indicators – TONIA Compounded Index and TONIA Compounded Rate, launched a new trading and clearing system, SPECTRA, in the derivatives market and a new Private Placement platform. Since the beginning of the current year, trades in new currency pairs have been opened on KASE: in the US dollar with settlements in yuan and in the euro with settlements in yuan," said KASE.
As noted by the source at KASE, the Exchange has introduced simplified listing rules for small and medium-sized businesses, launched a new platform KASE Global for trading in foreign shares, expanded the conditions for concluding transactions in the money market, and provided trading opportunities using omnibus accounts. In 2022, the Exchange successfully conducted a public IPO of NC KazMunayGas JSC.
Meanwhile, KASE's commitment to fostering sustainable finance is evident through its issuance and placement of securities dedicated to green and social projects.
"KASE issues and places securities to finance green and social projects, and also establishes requirements for the provision of annual reports by the listed companies in terms of ESG information disclosure, which are based on the implemented methodology of the Exchange for reporting according to requirements of the environmental, social and corporate governance," said the exchange.
In addition, KASE on a regular basis carries out activities to improve financial literacy and promote the use of stock market instruments to raise financing. In particular, KASE regularly holds free webinars for retail investors and students of Kazakh universities to gain knowledge and skills in the stock market and organizes online meetings for SME representatives to let them know about the possibilities of raising funds on the Exchange.
"For instance, the Exchange implements a "My Portfolio at KASE" training program focused on the analysis of securities market instruments and the rules for compiling. As a communication window for engagement with retail investors, the Exchange launched the KASE Mobile app and plans to further develop it," the source said.
