ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 18. Kazakhstan plans to transfer one of the mobile operators of Kazakhtelecom JSC to a new investor, Trend reports.
This measure was discussed at a government meeting on demonopolization of the economy chaired by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov.
In particular, the meeting participants considered the demonopolization of the Kazakhtelecom JSC group of companies.
It was noted that negotiations are currently underway with potential foreign investors.
It is expected that this measure will improve the quality of services provided to the population and will have a positive impact on the development of the telecommunications industry.
The Prime Minister gave instructions to speed up work in this direction.
Meanwhile, the Kazakhtelecom group of companies (the largest telecom operator in Kazakhstan) has demonstrated growth in all main financial and economic indicators for nine months of 2023.
Thus, the group’s revenue increased during this period by 30 billion tenge (about $65 million) and exceeded 504 billion tenge, or about $1.1 billion, (475 billion tenge, or about $1.03 billion, for the first nine months of 2022). As the company noted, growth was achieved due to increased revenues in both the fixed-line and mobile segments.
In addition, net profit also increased and amounted to 89.3 billion tenge, or about $194.2 million, for the first nine months of 2022.
