The Russian airbase in Kant provides the stability and security of not only Russia and Kyrgyzstan, but throughout Central Asia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during a press conference at the State House of Ala-Archa on Thursday, KyrTAG writes.
He stressed that the air base has no hidden agenda and its placement is in the interest of Kyrgyzstan. Lavrov said Russia respects the decision of the president of Kyrgyzstan with regard to the issue of the centre at Manas airport.
"We respect and are sympathetic to the issue of extension of the transit centre stay," the Russian Foreign Minister said.
