Kyrgyz president stands for intensified cooperation with WB

Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev has today received a WB delegation, headed by WB vice-president for Europe and Central Asia Philippe Le Houérou, the Kyrgyz presidential press service said today.

Atambayev welcomed the delegation members and expressed his gratitude to the World Bank for supporting the processes of the most important sectors of the Kyrgyz economy.

"The World Bank has helped and continues helping Kyrgyzstan," Atambayev said. "I hope that we will continue this fruitful cooperation."

The president also stressed that the preconditions were created for intensifying the mutually beneficial cooperation in many areas during the years of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank.

Atambayev said that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to combating corruption.

Philippe Le Houérou stressed the positive changes in the country and gave an assurance that the WB will continue rendering support to the country.

"We see that the fight against corruption is one of your priorities," he said. "We will continue supporting efforts in this direction."
