BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 24. A total of 124,300 hectares have been sown with spring crops in Kyrgyzstan as of March 23, 2023, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.
This year the area for spring sowing increased by 46,000 hectares or 1.6 times compared to the same period of 2022.
The largest share of spring crops is planted by farmers in the Chuy region, which accounts for 51.9 percent of the sowing, followed by the Osh region with 20.5 percent, the Batken region with 13.2 percent, and the Jalal-Abad region with 13 percent.
Farms in Kyrgyzstan have been mainly sown with grain crops, perennial grasses, oil seeds, potatoes, and vegetables:
Wheat – 36,900 hectares;
Barley – 76,300 hectares;
Potato – 3,200 hectares;
Perennial grasses – 1,900 hectares;
Vegetables – 1,700 hectares;
Oil seed crops – 900 hectares.
At the same time, Kyrgyzstan has carried out activities on fertilization of winter crops in the area of 37,400 hectares and spring plowing – in the area of 154,400 hectares.
