BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 12. Сonstruction of a joint plant of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan has been launched in Ak-Suu village of Kyrgyzstan’s Chuy region in the northern part of the country, Trend reports with reference to the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan.
At the event dedicated to the launch of construction, Akylbek Zhaparov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, said that the relations between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have reached a new level. The countries’ representatives carry out mutual visits during which the bilateral agreements for expanding and strengthening cooperation are concluded.
Zhaparov added that the construction of a joint car plant is a strategic project for the both countries.
The agreement on the construction of the plant on the territory of Kyrgyzstan was reached during the official visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan in January this year.
At the initial stage, the production capacity of the plant is estimated at 10,000 vehicles per year, and more than 1,000 jobs will be created.
According to the press-office of the Kyrgyz president, the launch of a joint car manufacturing between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will give impetus to development of the automotive industry in Kyrgyzstan, increase the share of industry in GDP, and renew the car fleet.
