BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 26. Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and the UK amounted to $16.6 million from January through March 2023, registering a 6.6-times increase compared to the $2.5 million in the same period of 2022, Trend reports.
As Kyrgyzstan’s statistics show, the UK accounted for 0.6 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover in 1Q2023.
The exports from Kyrgyzstan to the UK were relatively small during the period - $94,400. The figure decreased by 64 percent compared to $262,200 in 1Q2022.
At the same time, the imports by Kyrgyzstan from the UK reached $16.5 million, increasing by 7.3 times over the $2.2 million in 1Q2022.
Kyrgyzstan imported goods from European countries for $270.2 million in the first quarter of 2023, which is an increase of 2.7 times year-on-year ($99 million in the same period of 2022).
Kyrgyzstan’s exports to Europe amounted to $54.3 million, while imports stood at $215.8 million.
During the period under review, trade with European countries accounted for 9.9 percent of Kyrgyzstan's total trade turnover.
