BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. Citizens of Kyrgyzstan received a total of 11 billion soms ($125.5 million) in microcredits from January through March 2023, Trend reports.
The number of individuals who received microcredits reached 192,200, which is 27 percent higher than in the first quarter of 2022, the statistical data show.
Additionally, there has been a 25 percent increase in the volume of microcredits compared to the same period last year.
The majority of microcredit recipients reside in the regions of Osh (21 percent), Jalal-Abad (approximately 17 percent), and the city of Bishkek (around 16 percent).
The regions of Osh, Chuy, Jalal-Abad and Bishkek received the largest sums of microcredits, with Bishkek receiving 2 billion soms ($22.8 million), Osh receiving approximately 2 billion soms ($22.8 million), Chuy receiving 1.8 billion soms ($20.5 million), and Jalal-Abad receiving 1.7 billion soms ($19.4 million).
Out of the total volume of microcredits, 45 percent was lent for consumer needs, and over 27 percent was directed towards agricultural development.
The share of microcredits in the trade and catering sector accounted for approximately 12 percent, while in construction, it was 4 percent.
