BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan has received 84 special vehicles and machinery procured from the national budget of the country, Trend reports.
The equipment includes modern dump trucks, graders, concrete mixers, water and bitumen transport vehicles, tractors, bulldozers, excavators, fuel tankers, asphalt pavers, and other machinery.
Taking part in the ceremony of transferring specialized equipment to the Ministry of Transport, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Bakyt Torobaev, said that the use of this equipment will provide great opportunities to improve the condition of the roads, adjust infrastructure, and enhance road safety.
He added that Kyrgyzstan plans to procure a total of 669 special vehicles in the near future, and the remaining part will be soon delivered to the country.
Furthermore, he also informed those present about the planned events for the development of the road industry in 2023.
During the years of independence of Kyrgyzstan, there were a few cases when the purchase of special vehicles and machinery was financed from the state budget. According to the Ministry of Transport of Kyrgyzstan, the country purchased 32 units of such machinery for $2.3 million in 2022.
Prior to this, 355 units of special machinery were purchased with the support of the JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) in 2015. The same grant-based project made it possible to open six auto repair shops in Kyrgyzstan in 2018. And a loan was issued for the purchase of 46 units of machinery in 2019.
