BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 4. Kyrgyzstan's electricity imports amounted to 1.356 billion kilowatt-hours during the period from January through April 2023, which is an 8-percent decrease compared to the same period in 2022 (1.474 billion kilowatt-hours), Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the value of these imports reached $35.858 million, marking a 6.5 percent increase compared to the corresponding period in 2022 ($33.678 million).
During this period, Kyrgyzstan imported electricity from Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The table below provides details on the amount of electricity imported from each country in both from January through April 2023 and the corresponding period of 2022:

Notably, the imports of electricity from Turkmenistan have experienced a significant decline of 46.1 percent, amounting to 566.381 million kilowatt-hours of electricity compared to 1.051 billion kilowatt-hours imported from January through April 2022.
Meanwhile, during the same period, Kyrgyzstan recorded imports of electricity from Russia and Uzbekistan, whereas there were no imports from these countries in the corresponding period of 2022.
Kyrgyzstan imported 2.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2022, which is an increase of 62 percent compared to the indicators of 2021 (1.6 billion kilowatt-hours).
