BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 6. Kyrgyzstan's trade turnover with Afghanistan amounted to $13.212 million from January through June 2023, which is 10 percent higher than in the same period in 2022, Trend reports.
The data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan indicates that out of this total, $11.092 million were exports from Kyrgyzstan, which is a 4-percent year-on-year increase.
The majority of Kyrgyzstan's exports to Afghanistan consisted of legumes and fertilizers, totaling $6.604 million, with legumes accounting for $3.878 million.
During this period, there were also deliveries of motor gasoline ($317,800), other petroleum products ($4,300), passenger cars ($85,500), onions and garlic ($75,600), vegetable oils ($73,200), nuclear reactors, boilers, pumps, and other devices ($20,600), seeds ($20,500), dried vegetables ($10,000), and live plants ($1,100).
Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan’s imports from Afghanistan reached $2.119 million, up by 51 percent year-on-year.
Kyrgyzstan's primary import from Afghanistan was aluminum, amounting to $1,751,200. Additionally, the country imported cucumbers and pickles ($163,500), water ($103,300), rice ($45,900), plastic containers ($25,200), as well as smaller quantities of vegetables, grapes, nuts, tea, mineral fuel, woven carpets, and precious and semi-precious stones.
Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $6.705 billion in the first half of 2023, increasing 31.1 percent year-on-year. Exports accounted for 19.5 percent of the total trade volume, while imports made up the remaining 80.5 percent.
