BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 22. The assets of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan in gold amounted to 97.503 billion soms ($1 billion) as of August 31, 2023, which is a twofold increase compared to the previous year, Trend reports.
The National Bank's data shows that this figure increased by 3.357 billion soms ($37.8 million) in just one month.
Additionally, non-monetary gold and gold reserves at the National Bank are valued at 159.308 billion soms ($1.7 billion). Compared to 2022, this figure increased by 46.5 billion soms ($524.1 million). In the past month alone, it increased by 162.2 million soms ($1.8 million).
In total, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan's assets in gold, non-monetary gold, and gold reserves at the end of August were estimated at 256.811 billion soms ($2.8 billion).
Non-monetary gold and gold reserves are intended for building reserves at the National Bank as part of the development perspective of the domestic precious metals market. They are not involved in the bank's active investment operations and are not considered investment assets of the National Bank.
