BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 11. Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Russia increased by 17.4 percent from January through June 2023, compared to the previous year, Trend reports.
Russian President Vladimir Putin made this statement during a video address at the 10th Russian-Kyrgyz Interregional Conference in Kyrgyzstan’s Jalal-Abad region. Putin also noted that the overall bilateral trade turnover rose by 37 percent in 2022, reaching $3.4 billion.
Putin commended the Russian Federal Corporation for the Development of Small and Medium Businesses for significantly contributing to regional cooperation and business connections. He noted that the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund financed over 3,000 projects with a total value of $520 million.
In addition to economic cooperation, Putin emphasized the importance of humanitarian aspects in their bilateral relations. He said that Russia will open nine schools in Kyrgyzstan in the coming years, providing education in the Russian language for approximately 11,000 students.
The 10th Russian-Kyrgyz Interregional Conference gathers representatives from these countries to discuss cooperation, project financing in trade, tourism, and retail sectors. The conference program includes visits to industrial facilities, the inauguration of the Friendship Park of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, exhibitions, and business sessions.
