Natural gas production in Kyrgyzstan slopes downward

BISHKEK. Kyrgyzstan. December 26. A total of 24.3 million cubic meters of natural gas, in both liquid and gaseous forms, were produced in Kyrgyzstan from January through November 2023, Trend reports.

Data from the National Statistical Committee of the country indicates that this figure is eight percent less than the volume recorded during the same period in 2022, which was 26.4 million cubic meters.

In November 2023, the country's natural gas production decreased by 44 percent year-on-year, amounting to 1.9 million cubic meters compared to 3.4 million cubic meters produced in November 2022.

The volume of production in the extraction industry, which includes gas extraction, in Kyrgyzstan reached 49.593 billion soms ($556 million) from January through November 2023, which is a 16-percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Additionally, a total of 69,053 tons of natural gas, in both liquid and gaseous forms, were imported into Kyrgyzstan from January through October 2023. The figure increased by 16.9 percent compared to the same period in 2022 (59,064 tons).
