BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 29. The volume of transactions for goods and services payments via electronic wallets (e-wallets) in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 8.9 billion soms ($99.519 million) at the end of the fourth quarter of 2023, increasing by 33.9 percent compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.
According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, the number of transactions reached 6.8 million, increasing by 53.4 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
At the same time, the number of operations for electronic money redemption amounted to 1 million, decreasing by 16.4 percent compared to the same period in 2022. The transaction volume amounted to 3.7 billion soms ($41.373 million), decreasing by 18 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
Additionally, the number of transactions for replenishing e-wallets amounted to 3.6 million operations at the end of 2023, increasing by 44.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022. The transaction volume reached 9.8 billion soms ($109.582 million), increasing by 12.3 percent.
The number of e-wallets in Kyrgyzstan reached 6.5 million by the end of the fourth quarter of 2023, increasing by nearly 20 percent compared to 5.4 million in the same period of 2022.
