Kyrgyzstan's exports of black coal to Kazakhstan soar

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 4. Kyrgyzstan supplied over 19,323 tons of black coal to Kazakhstan in 2023, Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee shows that this figure rose by 6.9 times compared to the amount exported in 2022, which was 2,775 tons. The value of the exports in 2023 increased by almost 62 times, reaching $2.139 million compared to $34,700 in 2022.

Among the nations to which Kyrgyzstan sold black coal, Uzbekistan was the largest client with 1.066 million tons. Following Uzbekistan, Romania ordered 78,965 tons, while the Netherlands purchased 37,268 tons.

In total, Kyrgyzstan exported 1.262 million tons of black coal in 2023, 67.6 percent more than in 2022 (753,101 tonnes). The value of imports reached $50.876 million, up 68.1 percent year on year ($30.259 million in 2022).

Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover totaled $15.660 billion in 2023, a 29.9 percent increase over 2022 ($12.057 billion). The country's exports totaled $3.308 billion, up 46.8 percent year on year ($2.254 billion in 2022). Imports to Kyrgyzstan totaled $12.352 billion, up 26 percent from $9.803 billion in 2022.
