Tajikistan shares data on international passenger traffic via country’s airports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 1. International passenger traffic via Tajikistan’s airports amounted to 3.1 million people in 2022, up by 1.9 times year-on-year, Director of the Civil Aviation Agency of Tajikistan, Dilshod Sefarzoda told local reporters, Trend reports via Tajik media.

In 2022, more than half of the passengers in Tajikistan traveled through the Dushanbe International Airport. Passenger traffic via the Dushanbe Airport totaled more than 1.7 million people.

Tajikistan’s Somon Air was the only company to carry out transportation. Meanwhile, Tajik Air, the second national airline carrier of Tajikistan, has not operated any flights since September 1, 2020, due to the lack of operational aircrafts.

Last year, the passenger traffic by Somon Air made up 546,900 people, which is an increase of almost 40 percent or 156,100 passengers, compared to 2021.

Tajik Somon Air is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which has been successfully operating internationally since 2008.
