BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 26. The inflation rate in Tajikistan is estimated at 0.5 percent in April 2023, decreasing from 0.9 percent recorded in March 2023, Trend reports.
In February 2023, the inflation rate in Tajikistan, as reported by the country’s National Bank, was recorded at 0.5 percent, while in January 2023, it stood at 0.4 percent.
The annual inflation rate in Tajikistan reached 3.4 percent in April of this year.
The National Bank of Tajikistan aims to maintain the inflation rate within the range of 6 percent (±2 percentage points) for the year 2023, consistent with the target set in previous years.
The forecasts of financial organizations regarding inflation rate in Tajikistan in 2023 mainly do not vary much:
- The World Bank (WB) expects inflation in Tajikistan to remain within the National Bank’s target range from 4 to 8 percent in 2023, supported by tight monetary policy.
- International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects inflation rate in Tajikistan to stand at 6.5 percent in 2023.
- Asian Development Bank (ADB) predicts inflation rate in Tajikistan to amount to 7 percent in 2023 and slow down to 6.5 percent in 2024.
- Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) predicts inflation rate in Tajikistan to reach 6.5 percent this year.
