Speaker of the Turkmen Parliament Akja Nurberdiyeva recemtly received the credentials of the new Slovakian Ambassador Juraj Sivachek today.
Welcoming the Ambassador on behalf of the Turkmen government, the Speaker firstly congratulated him on his appointment to the high diplomatic post and wished him success 'in the development of friendly dialogue between the two countries'.
Mr. Sivachek then conveyed Slovakia senior authorities' greetings and best wishes to the Turkmen people.
During the meeting Mr. Nurberdiyeva informed Mr. Sivachek about the main aspects of Turkmenistan's state policy and also spoke about the tasks of ongoing national projects and programs 'aimed at sustained economic growth in the country and further improvement of the social sphere'.
The sides put forward proposals to establish direct inter-parliamentary relations, which are an important factor in strengthening bilateral relations.
Mr. Sivachek expressed his country's interest in further expansion of effective cooperation with the Turkmen government, whilst at the same time stressing the importance of trade and economic, scientific, technological and cultural exchanges.
The meeting also mentioned the importance of cooperation within international organisations such as the UN and the EU.
