By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Turkmenistan, Mamuka Murjikneli, who presented his credentials, Trend reports referring to Turkmen government.

An exchange of views on the prospects for bilateral cooperation took place during the meeting.

A reliable basis for bringing the Turkmen-Georgian partnership to a qualitatively new frontier resulted in the agreements reached in recent years at the highest level, government report said.

In realizing the existing opportunities for building up trade and economic ties, a significant role is assigned to the joint intergovernmental commission, which is called upon to promote the intensification of productive contacts in various industries, including through business structures.

Transport sector was noted as one of the priority directions of interstate cooperation. The favorable geographical position of the two states and the common interests of the parties determine favorable prerequisites for effectively combining efforts to create multimodal transit-transport corridors using the potentials of the Caspian and Black Sea regions.

Here the project of the transport corridor "Lapis lazuli" along the Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey route also serves as a certain example.
