BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 25. The cotton sowing season has begun in Turkmenistan, Trend reports via the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
Sowing in Ahal, Balkan, Lebap, Mary regions (velayats) has begun and sowing season in Dashoguz velayat will start on March 30, 2022, the report said.
A total of 580,000 hectares have been allocated for cotton this year. The crop will also be cultivated by private farmers who have received plots from a special land fund. Preference is given to such varieties of cotton as Yoloten-7, Yoloten-39, and Jeyhun, S-2606, Dashoguz-120, Dashoguz-114, Gubadag-3, 149- F, the report noted.
According to the plan, at least 1.25 million tons of cotton should be harvested in Turkmenistan this year and after processing at modern refineries, cotton will go to local textile factories, also for export to Russia, Turkey, China, and many other countries.
