BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 27. The World Bank (WB) will expand support for projects in Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
This was stated by the World Bank's Regional Director for Central Asia Tatiana Proskuryakova during a visit to the capital of Turkmenistan Ashgabat from January 22 through 26.
She noted that the WB and Turkmenistan discussed the possibilities of technical assistance in the field of agriculture, and also added that in this regard, the bank plans to organize a special mission in the near future to discuss this project in detail.
According to her, in parallel with the preparation of the project on agriculture, the parties will work out an interim strategy for further cooperation between Turkmenistan and the WB.
Meanwhile, the WB regularly provides advisory assistance to Turkmenistan in such areas as public finance and accounting, the banking sector, strengthening statistical capacity, as well as in the fields of transport, oil and gas industry, water supply and sanitation, healthcare, modernization of hydrometeorology services.
