The Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Serdar Joraev held a meeting with the Executive Director of the World Bank Dominique Favre, at which the parties discussed priority areas of cooperation and outlined further plans for cooperation, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media

During the meeting, one of the key topics of discussion was the COVID-19 pandemic response project in Turkmenistan, for the implementation of which the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development allocated $20 million.

Joraev noted that a significant part of the allocated funds has been successfully disbursed and aimed at strengthening Turkmenistan's readiness to respond to the pandemic.

In turn, Favre said that the country is a leader in the region in the implementation of this project and stressed the readiness of the WB for further cooperation on this issue. In this regard, the possible extension of the project and additional financing in case of interest of Turkmenistan were discussed.

The interlocutors also discussed the details of the implementation of a joint project aimed at supporting private producers of fruit and vegetable products in Turkmenistan, as well as the preparation of a new country program and the appointment of the head of the WB representative office in the country.
