Turkmenistan and Germany decrease trade volume by quarter

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 4. The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Germany during the period from January through May 2023 reached over 78.96 million euros, a source at Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, told Trend.

These figures indicate a decrease of 24.9 percent compared to the trade turnover in the first five months of the previous year, which was 105.18 million euros.

Turkmenistan's exports to Germany from January through May 2023 amounted to almost 4.41 million euros, showing a substantial decrease of 6.3 times compared to the same months in 2022, when it was 28.18 million euros.

At the same time, Turkmenistan reduced its imports from Germany by 3.1 percent in the first five months of 2023 in comparison to the same period in 2022 (77 million euros), resulting in imports amounting to 74.55 million euros.

Notably, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Germany in the entire year of 2022 was 241.3 million euros, which is a significant increase of 32 percent compared to the trade turnover in 2021, which was 182.74 billion euros.

Meanwhile, the trade exchange between Turkmenistan and the EU countries from January through May 2023 amounted to over 494.66 million euros, which is 27.3 percent more than the same period last year (406.3 million euros).
