Bulk of pharmaceutical products in Kyrgyzstan being imported from Uzbekistan

The largest volume of pharmaceutical products exported to Kyrgyzstan in 2020 accounted for Uzbekistan, amounting to 2,752 tons, Trend reports with reference to the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan.

According to the agency, to date 207 enterprises in Uzbekistan produce 3,542 types of medicines and medical products.

“More than 20 manufacturers of these enterprises export 64 types of medical devices and 154 types of medicines to Kyrgyzstan,” the agency reports.

Uzbekistan proposed a draft agreement between the governments of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan on cooperation regarding medicines and medical devices.

In addition, Uzbekistan offered Kyrgyzstan to create a joint project, the launch of which is aimed at localizing drug production. “The project will allow Kyrgyz pharmaceutical companies to export their products to the European Union,” the message said.

Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will create a joint investment fund with an authorized capital of $50 million. The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov noted that the fund will become a catalyst for the development of cooperation between countries.
