Uzbekistan notes decrease in fruit and vegetables export

The rate of decline in the export of fruit and vegetable products in Uzbekistan from January through May 2021 compared to the same period in 2020 amounted to 4.3 percent, Trend reports with reference to State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, the volume of exports of fruit and vegetables in 5M2021 amounted to 526,900 tons, while in value terms it exceeded $291.6 million.

In particular, over five months, 419,800 tons of vegetables were exported for $172.5 million, as well as 70,200 tons of fruits and berries for $80 million.

It is reported that the share of fruit and vegetables in total exports during the reporting period amounted to 5.1 percent.

In addition, it was noted that the main export markets for Uzbek fruit and vegetable products are in Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and China.

Thus, in 5M2021 some 261,500 tons of agricultural products for $76.6 million were shipped to Kazakhstan with a share of 26.3 percent in total exports.

The second major consumer of agricultural products from Uzbekistan was Russia, which imported 103,100 tons of vegetables and fruits for $68.4 million with a share of 23.5 percent in the nationwide export of fruits and vegetables.

At the same time, during this period, 45,400 tons of fruit and vegetable products were shipped to Kyrgyzstan for $42.3 million with a specific weight of 14.5 percent, and to China – 30,500 tons for $25.5 million with a specific weight of 8.7 percent in nationwide exports.
