Chinese enterprise starts exporting honey from Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh region

Chinese XIVA Honey enterprise in June started exporting natural honey from Jizzakh region Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China.

According to the information, the first supply of Uzbek honey to China market was carried out under a contract concluded with a large Chinese distribution company for about $0.5 million.

It is noted that in order to meet the needs of Chinese buyers, as well as meet the requirements and conditions of the Chinese market, XIVA Honey has developed a design, label, container and packaging for exported honey.

It is reported that in 2020, China remained the largest producer, consumer and exporter of honey. In total, China annually produces about 305,000 tons of honey.

In 2020, the volume of Chinese honey imports amounted to 4,300 tons for the amount of $89 million. The main suppliers are New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Germany, Canada, Great Britain, France, and Russia. From now on, the number of countries exporting honey to China has increased by one more country - Uzbekistan.

It should be noted that with the active participation of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the PRC in 2017-2021 a set of issues was worked out to increase the range of supplies of Uzbek agricultural products to China. Interdepartmental protocols were signed on phytosanitary requirements, which made it possible to increase exports to China by 16 items.

Among them are fresh cherries, melons, hot peppers, pomegranates, mung beans, sesame seeds, raisins, dried apricots, walnuts, sweet and salty apricot pits, grape seeds, peanuts, natural honey, dried hot peppers and dried prunes.
